Very Big Diehl

‘Very Big Diehl’  is a new introduction and registered with the RHS. Hybridizer Dr. I. Evans. When I asked about the story, and saw this hybrid up close in his fields, he said it started out as  NOT A BIG DEAL, but with further evaluation, it became a VERY BIG DIEHL, named after a friend that is in the lily world.   The dram of butter and lime merging creating a clean cool citrus wand of pure florets. I had to have one as my toes were curling as much as the reverse itself was on this hybrid and its folded back petals. . The drama of the style and stigma, the filaments, thick hansonii type tepals, and cushioned pollen slippers arranged on the dijon mustard anthers have me puckering my lips.  I call this a designer hybrid through and through….I have admit that I love everything about this stunning beauty. I asked if I could divide my precious VBD, as it is a nice multiplier once established  and start spreading this across the country, he laughed and said to me—- You better…. So from his own mouth, I am pleased to share with you Very Big Diehl. — you will soon see that how big of a deal this actually is when mingled within the gardens of your hosta beds.   All money collected will be donated to the hybridizers choice of organization.
