RS glim ( stillness set )

Description

Making these delicate clean burning glims was a project that I took up when the season went dark. Literally,  These little thin glow wands as my granddaughter calls them, were the perfect depth of transformed warmth to remove the chill of an evening and of my soul and heart.  ICE was all around.

Lighting a candle consecutively for 5 nights or 10, will personally still you and surrender the moment of grounding. Inviting a focus of  meditation, prayer or reflection in the midst of a turbulent earth as we know it.

Using a cotton braid that has been saturated in holy or moon water. (The choice is yours.) Then the wicking is sun dried in the morning eastern sunshine. Once hand poured crystallisation has completed, they are blessed with a prayer of gratitude as I await curing.  I then pack the gift in dark spaces to await the occasion of  departure. These glims are very special as they carry the collection and work of the ladies of the hive, this wax was made especially to build comb for storing the food for the brood on Wendell Estates.

These glims glow, not only when they are ignited, but even as you begin to un-package these sweet wands,  they shine with white halo (ness,) now becoming my favorite evening quiet ritual of;    striking a match, smelling the sulfur, listening to the combustion of flame,  lighting your wee glim—– blowing out the flame on the stick, watch the curl of smoke enter your space and then, enjoying the flicker of your bee glim.   I pay attention to ritual. Sacred space that is my moment and my time.

Erecting them is a simple process of lighting your glim, tipping it so the burning wick melts the glim and allowing two or three full droplets to pool onto your plate, then, place the bace of the glim in the pool and allow it to stand. I use a ceramic dish as illustrated here in my short video.

These glims tends to borrow the hues of blooms affecting the shifting of the season. I tend to love lighting these for any occasion, and especially enjoy them at any gathering. but more importantly,  sometimes it is the perfect ray of moonlight at the end of my day.   Pour a glass of bubble water or other fluid of your choice,  put on a fav Spotify station or perhaps meditate with a light of gratitude or a pause of  remembrance on a day to never forget. These little Rs glims are the perfect calm of silent moments of gratification. I have used these for my morning lauds and daily rosary chant. They are perfect for the birthday cake to ‘MAKE A WISH’ — what ever the reason, it becomes a reason and for that it is valued.
