Northern Beauty because with a genetic cross of Black Beauty and White Henryi .. See Article The appearance is very much alike that what we have as Black Beauty, but side by side, Northern Beauty blooms earlier and some have proven it being hardier. This is a very unusually had variety to obtain in the states. I have these that were of Original Stock of Hartle Gilman Gardens. 1978 W. Ronald,  Over and over again,  this hybrid has been a NALS Popularity Poll winner.  This lily has won many prestigious awards

Collicutt (1993) Inside dark red and deep purplish red, tepal-tips and margins yellowish white, throat strong yellow-green edged brilliant to pale greenish yellow; outside deep to moderate purplish pink, the colour showing through from inside; spots absent; papillae dark red, on basal half of each tepal; pollen dark reddish orange; stigma light greenish grey. Fls slightly fragrant; tepals 102 × 33 mm, margins smooth, tips strongly recurved. Lvs scattered, 123 × 35 mm, moderate olive green. Stems 0.8-1.5 m, strong yellow-green spotted with dark red, with 1-6 fls. July. (An Orienpet (OT) lily. Stem height given incorrectly in ILR Twelfth Supplement.)
