Description
Very Unique
Introduced from Japan; Ils. Koshikijima. A strong and sturdy selection of the species lily Speciosum var Rubrum due to well adapted growing habits was selected, Thus, named ‘Uchida.’ The elegantly recurved, pink-and-white petals with darker spots. Lilium speciosum ‘Uchida’ grows to 4′ tall and perfumes the late summer garden with a light, spicy fragrance. I love this species with its splendor of truly florescent pink blooms towards the end of the season. I actually have paired it with Flore Pleno, another species that is consider having a wild behavior. Such a welcome color for this stunning species.
Plant prefers acidic spot well drained soils and full sun. Keep soil damp, and do not let it dry out. In the fall, I cover the area with large amounts of leaf litter.
