Fiery Belles’ VIII(a-b/b) Parentage: (L. × aurelianense × ‘Redland’) X Asiatic seedling 75-38-1 R: L.M. Collicutt & W.G. Ronald (1982), G: L.M. Collicutt (1984), N: Morden Research Center (1996), I: Morden Research Center (1996), REG: Morden Research Center (1997) Inside strong orange (168B); spots absent; nectaries dark brown, 20 × 2 mm; stamens and style strong orange; pollen moderate reddish brown; stigma moderate purplish red. Fls 130 mm wide; tepals 80 × 40 mm, margins smooth, tips slightly recurved. Lvs scattered, 130 × 22 mm, mid green. Stems 0.85 m, mid green, with c.8-10 fls. Mid July.(An Asiatic/Aurelian derivative. Published in The Lily Nook Cat., 1997: 18. Included in ILR Sixteenth. (Supplement under the incorrect spelling ‘Firey Belles’. Although named with the spelling ‘Firey Belles,’ it was registered under the above spelling as listed. W.G.Ronald mentioned that the parentage of this hybrid is ” a rare backcross of ‘Blushing Belles’ to an asiatic seedling. “
No taller than three feet high making this mini trumpet absolutely charming in the gardens or doorway planters for vertical interest.
Plant 5-6 inches deep in full sunshine or partial shade areas. Late July-August bloom time for this Asiapet Hybrid.
