Black Beauty OT
Description
‘Black Beauty’ was original stock from Hartle-Gilman Gardens. These were in the meadow south of the twin cities and were rescued to the new location. I have no records as to how old this clone is. Hybridized by Leslie Woodriff in the 40’s, This beauty was bred by Leslie Woodruff who took two species ( L. specious rubrum and L. henry ) and hybridized them. The ‘Black Beauty’ has the well known blackish-red very tight recurved petals that has the longest of filaments with deep anthers (Stamen) This blooms late season making it the perfect shade for the fall gardens and the visiting nectary pollinators
I believe that my stock is unique as Marsha Hartle had an eye for her selective Late Bloomers for seasonal interest … This is my number one best seller to date
