Description

Alertie Peony (Herbaceous,  which means that it dies totally back at the end of each fall season.)   This peony is a fantastic little lovely that offers the classic soft pink double blooms that gradually fade to a white with a lighter soft blush.  These stunning flowers are one of my favorites in the early summer season … I cut these and use the entire plant for large mass bouquets of vase displays. They are so elegant. Long lasting —- I also have been known to use these for my thanksgiving tables in November where I cut the buds that are like round pillows, strip the foliage and store in a temperature controlled refrigerator in newspaper, many layers  (no humidity) or they rot … Pulling them out in November adds a charm that is very desirable.

Choosing an area where there is approximately 6 hours of sunlight with good drainage to the soil.

Dig a space about 12-18 inches deep, and mix an all purpose fertilizer with the soil that is placed back into the hole that was just dug.

Place peony root 2-3 inches under the soil line with eyes facing upwards and then gently press soil over the roots and the eyes.

Water in well….

28 to 30 inches tall. so not as tall  and early to mid spring bloom time.   They have the sweet fragrance that is a classic for many peonies.
