Description

Hartle-Gilman’s  project MNLSP ( Minnesota Native Lilium Species Project ) 2022. https://minnesotamartagonlilies.com/minnesota-native-lilium-species-project/

There will be more updates to follow over the season 2025-2026. The gist of this project is to distribute native species of L. michiganense out to home gardeners like yourselves via seed production.

I believe that the success of any project of distribution depends on carful selection of appropriate plant materials, particularly native plants and due to my personal interest in Lilium and their relatives, I have chosen L. michiganense.

There are short and long term goals that I have had to keep in mind in choosing prosperity of an area that I have had to study intensely with research and tested plots. Selecting native species from locally adapted sources for this project requires that I continue in maintaining adequate genetic diversity. Making sure that the native wild test plots are closely monitored for survival and adaptation of environmental changes that occur not only naturally, but also through spontaneous decisions of communities and counties.  ( mowing, spraying, plowing )

There will be more information with details of my successes, and as any project there are always trials and tribulations. Sometimes there are often hiccups that we learn from.

For now—– IF ANY ORDER THESE SEEDS, I WILL BE ASKING IF YOU WOULD BE WILLING TO PARTICIPATE WITH UPDATES AND PHOTOS THAT I CAN USE FOR RESEARCH.  It is not mandatory, and if you feel you do not have the time, please take the seed and I will support you the best I can.

You would be placed on a email-list and feedback will be deeply appreciated.  — you are becoming part of the research team. (Citizen  Scientist)   Collecting data and sending photos. Reporting oddities and growth patterns.  The commitment is not a life long one, I promise.

If this is something that you would like to take part of or if there are questions that you have, Please do not hesitate to contact me. 651-724-1847
