L. leichtlinii subsp. maximowiczii

Description

L. leichtlinii var maximowiczii, A welcome splash of colour in the woodland area at the start of autumn. In the wild seem to appreciate the moist soils, but within my gardens It thrives with usual watering throughout the season. The pendulous flowers are composed of reflexed orange petals, spattered with brown spots. Appear more pronounced within the gardens in the correct location. This species will not normally produce bulbils. The pendulous flowers are composed of reflexed orange petals, spattered with brown spots. The anthers hang proud of the flower on extended Lilium leichtlinii var. maximowiczii filaments.
3 feet tall
summer blooming

Extremely different than the standard leichtlinii or common tiger lilies  These do not produce bulbils on their axils.  Can grow very tall   They are one of my favorites here at Hartle-Gilman Gardens
