Description

A unique, Japanese-form peony flower, this stunner has creamy-white outer guard petals surrounding a center of golden-yellow and occasionally even more creamy-white petaloids tinged in shell-pink! Foliage is glossy, emerald-green and remains attractive until frost, at which time it should be cut to the ground. ‘Honey Gold’ is best grown in full sun, but can tolerate some light afternoon shade. This fragrant selection makes an interesting garden addition and good cut-flower. Blooms in the late-spring to early-summer. (Klehm, 1970).   It’s one of the favorites here in the display gardens at HgG.  HERBACEOUS
‘Honey Gold’ is a vigorous, midseason blooming cultivar with an upright to rounded habit. This selection produces Japanese form flowers, which feature a ring of large, upward-facing “guard petals” surrounding a globe-shaped cluster of small, crinkled, center petals. The fragrant blooms of ‘Honey Gold’ appear in mid-summer on sturdy stems and have bright white guard petals with buttery yellow center petals. An excellent selection for cutting.
