I am honored to share with you prestigious martagon lilies that were bred by a dear friend and mentor Mr. Hugh Skinner.   Mr Skinner has done numerous speaking events in the hopes of educating in breeding, as well as engaging public in the charm of L. martagons. With the numerous publications that he has written on his subject,” Martagon ” he has been sought out at many national conventions to share his knowledge. He is a National Judge for North American Lily Society once it is board approved this year and is a delight to work with over the past four years — I am honored to watch him grow.

I am happy to inform you that these numbered seedlings do not have a name and when the author names these, you will receive an announcement of the given registered name. (Just to keep your records straight)

My admit assistant of the Fb group Hartle-Gilman Gardens Private Sales Page, —– Mary Banken Kuehn was struck with pancreatic cancer and from the time of diagnosis to her final moments were very short and quick….  She was a private collector of numerous HWS martagons and all of the photos that you see in all of the HWS martagons that I will be listing this season are her photos. Her biggest joy was to have all of the martagons of HWS—- Her collection is huge—  When I mentioned to HWS her goal, he said that she has some that he didn’t have anymore.  We laughed and then we became silent in the smiles of remembrance of Mary B.

The author mentions that this seeding is pollenless, though it has developed anthers, there is no pollen visible. The star shaped tepals have narrow margins of a dark contrasting brown that matches the stem of the hybrid. The nectary holds a chartreuse ovary that matches the pollenless anthers giving the flower a feeling of flight with its deminitional appearance.   Plant grow to about 1 meter in height — These have been raised for resistance and have had no choice but to survive and tolerate the spring frost days in Dropmore Manitoba.  (one of his other breeding goals with his martagon selections.
