Wu Long Peng Sheng’, Suffruticosa Tree Peony commonly sold as BLACK DRAGON WITH SPLENDID FLOWER, will grow to be about 6 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 5 feet. Its double flowers are lightly-scented dark red cup-shaped flowers with lavender overtones and yellow eyes at the ends of the branches. It blooms from mid to late spring. The flowers are excellent for cutting and it maintains attractive light green foliage throughout the season.
Notable characteristics: On mature blossoms, light cream carpels often appear in striking contrast to the very dark, magenta-pink petals. Highly recommended for beginning a tree peony collection. Very vigorous grower.
