Burnett (1995) Fls black-scarlet throughout (blacker than dark purple, dark red or dark greyish reddish brown; outside with a reddish tinge; papillae many, black; nectaries black-scarlet; pollen moderate red; buds equally dark. Fls 160 mm wide; tepals 83 × 34 mm, margins smooth, tips recurved. Lvs scattered, 140 × 10 mm, mid green. Stems c.1.2 m, mottled dark red on green at base, mottled light olive-grey on green at top, with 15-25 fls. July.
If I could have one hundred of these I shall….. I am able to thin out my garden bed this season for this heritage beauty
These have nice larger flower buds and stunning blooms to compliment any arrangement with pinks, yellows and greens… The dark red slipper anthers of pollen are an attractive feature to this classic beauty.
